Clark Walker is an Alabama Artist. His paintings have been shown in Montgomery Alabama forever it seems. Born in Selma, Alabama, in 1940, Walker began his formal art training IN 1960 with Charles Shannon (Alabama artist who was responsible for the discovery of folk artist Bill Traylor). Walker attended The Art Students League in New York and studied with Ben Shahn and Jack Levine at the Skowhegan School of Painting in Maine. The artists whom Walkers admires range from the Polish contemporary artist Balthus to Ocean Springs visionary Walter Anderson. From pensive and moody monochromatic, to bold andvibrating worlds of color, Walker's style is quiet with anintensity that burns beneath the subdued colors or distracted gazes of his subjects.
